What is Corned Beef?
Corned beef is a salt cured meat that has been boiled, and is usually from a meaty and tender piece called the brisket. Corned beef does not have corn in it, but refers to the large salt crystals that are used to cure this savory meat that has a sour, spiced and briny flavor. Corned beef is often sold as a thinly sliced deli meat. A popular Irish American dish is corned beef and cabbage, a dish served hot with thick cuts of soft corned beef.
