What is Crispy Lotus?
Crispy lotus is an Asian specialty, made from root of the lotus flower. The root is sliced into thin rounds and has many holes in a pattern. One hole in the middle and a circle at the edge of the root made of holes of varying sizes. For this dish, the lotus root is deep fried in hot oil and cooked until crispy and golden brown. The texture is crunchy and soft at the same time and has a mild starchy flavor.
