What is Decaffeinated Tea?
Decaffeinated tea bags are comprised of small dried tea leaves. Decaf refers to a caffeinated tea that has had the caffeine removed. These teas include all black, green and white tea. Chemical solvents or water are commonly used to extract the caffeine from tea leaves. Decaf does not refer to herbal tea. The tea is usually sold in a box of individual bags of tea, held in small square shaped thin paper tea bags, or in nylon mesh bags. The color of decaf teas vary from pale yellow, to green and dark brown. Decaffeinated tea can be served hot or cold, though is usually hot.
