What is Pappadam?
The pappadam is a tortilla sized thin flatbread, similar to a cracker. It is made from chickpea flour, also called gram flour. The pappadam is thinner than a tortilla, light, crisp and airy. It is often sprinkled with spices such as cumin and has a golden/tan color. Pappadams are usually cooked by deep frying, but can also be baked. The flavor is nutty and savory with hints of spices. Pappadams are eaten as a snack and served as a side to a main course.
