What is Parotta Bread?

A parotta, also called a porotta, or barotta is a type of Indian flatbread. It is made from a wheat dough and formed of layers that create a flaky, round disc. This is done by swirling thin strands of dough into a round ball and flattening it. The parotta is roughly the size of a corn tortilla and thicker with a white color that has spots of golden brown from where it was pan cooked. The flavor is mild, nutty, sweet and satisfying.
