What is Pizza Crust?
Pizza crust is made from a yeasted dough of flour, water, oil, sugar and salt. The yeast is a vital ingredient and helps to leaven the dough and make the crust rise. The dough is formed into a thin round disk and baked with toppings until the crust cooks and has a bread-like texture. The center of the crust is often flat and the edges are crusted and puffed. The texture is soft and a little chewy. The color is a cream tone, to golden-brown. The flavor is mild, nutty and yeasty.
