What is Basil Seeds?
Basil seeds come once the plant has flowered. These small black seeds have a mild taste and are used more for their texture and cooling effect, which when exposed to liquids, produces a gelatinous effect that looks and feels almost exactly like chia seeds. Some know them as sabja and these seeds are used in Indian smoothie-like drinks and can act as a tapioca replacement in a variety of sweet, cold beverages across cuisines.
