What is Danish?
The danish is a multilayered yeast risen pastry, with a sweet flavor. It is round with a golden-brown outer layer which has a gentle crunch to its texture and a slight indent in the center. This indent may be filled with jam or sweet cream cheese. The danish originated in Vienna and was brought to Denmark in the 1850's where it evolved into the pastry it is today.
