What is French Toast?

French toast is traditionally served as a breakfast food. It is made by briefly soaking bread, preferably a soft bread, such as white or brioche in an egg and milk mixture. Sometimes sugar and cinnamon is added to the wet ingredients. Once coated, the bread cooks in a pan with a touch a fat until the outside has a golden brown color and the inside is moist. The overall texture is soft, with flavors of wheat, egg, cinnamon and sugar. French toast is served hot and drizzled with maple syrup, or some kind of sweetener.
