What is Hero?
Hero buns are a long wheat flour bun made from yeasted dough. The bun is between six inches to one foot in length and has a hard golden brown crust and soft white interior. Many hero buns exclude the hard crust and opt for a softer exterior. The flavor is mild and tastes similar to white bread or a baguette. The bun is sliced and made into the popular hero sandwich, also called a hoagie.
