What is Italian Bread?
Italian bread is a white bread, often containing a bit of fat, such as oil or butter. True French bread contains no added fats and this sets the two apart. Italian bread looks like a long, rounded rectangle and isn't much taller than a baguette. It has a thick beige crust and a porous dough with many large holes. The inside of the bread is soft and chewy, yet maintains its structure. The flavor of wheat is present with a mild taste that lends itself well to butter, or a sandwich.
