What is Liverwurst?
Liverwurst, leberwurst or liver sausage is a German sausage made from pork livers and occasionally veal livers. It is seasoned with spices such as thyme, nutmeg and marjoram. It is a soft slicing meat, easy to spread on bread or crackers. The shape is round and wide with a muted pink color. The flavor is a similar to a pork based lunch meat, but with an iron taste from the liver.
