What is Pigeon Peas?
The pigeon pea is also known as toor dal in Hindi and Indian cuisine. The peas grown in a pod and are removed and dried for later use. Small pigeon peas are green when freshly harvested, and light brown when dried. They have a round body and meaty texture with a flavor that is nutty and similar to a lentil. Pigeon peas are commonly used throughout Asia, Africa and Central and South America.
