What is Pomegranate?
The pomegranate is a red fruit with a thick, semi-shiny skin. The skin has a thick white interior, with a spongy texture that protects the seeds of the pomegranate. The seeds are clustered tightly together and sectioned into chunks, via a thin white membrane. These edible seeds are the size of a puffed and fat sunflower seed. The seed has a translucent dark red flesh around it. This flesh has a tart, sweet and robust flavor. The juicy stains easily and the dense seeds inside the flesh are the only part that is eaten. Pomegranate is used in drinks and as a syrup. It can be found in desserts and savory Middle Eastern dishes.
