What is Scallop?

Scallops are a shelled sea mollusk and have a round, white body with a flat top and bottom. They are usually no more than 1 inch in diameter and less in height. They are soft, moist and squishy and when cooked retain a gentle texture that is almost rubbery without being tough, if cooked properly. The flavor is mild, buttery, sweet and ocean-like.
