What is Whole Wheat Shell Pasta?
Whole wheat shell pasta, pasta shells, or conchiglie are shaped like small seashells, with a rounded top, uniform ridges and sides that curl under. The pasta is made from whole wheat flour and has a beige color. When dry, the pasta is hard. Once boiled it becomes soft and easy to chew, while still maintaining its from. The flavor is mild and slightly nutty. It pairs well with tomato sauce, basil pesto and other various pasta additions.
